Frequently Asked Interview Questions (With Answers & Solution Guidelines)

Bioacoustics Software (Raven Pro)

  • Question:“What key acoustic parameters in Raven Pro do you measure to document avian calls?”
  • Answer & Solution Context: Detail measuring time-domain and frequency-domain metrics: Low Frequency (Hz), High Frequency (Hz), Peak Frequency (where maximum energy resides), Call Duration (s), and Delta Time. Explain that creating precise selection borders around spectrogram elements ensures clean metrics for species identification.

LiDAR Applications in Habitat Assessment

  • Question:“How does LiDAR data complement bioacoustic surveys in ecological studies?”
  • Answer & Solution Context: Explain that bioacoustics identifies species presence, activity timing, and acoustic diversity, whereas Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) provides 3D structural data on canopy height, foliage density, and vegetation layering. Combining both allows researchers to correlate species distribution directly with structural habitat complexity.
