Job Description

GE Appliances (GEA) is the fastest-growing appliance company in the U.S., and their Digital Technology (DT) team is the engine behind that growth. As a Digital Technology Intern, you will spend 20–24 weeks embedded within a team of world-class technical minds. This isn’t a “coffee-run” internship; you will own modules, write production-grade code, and solve real business challenges using Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Whether you are interested in Web/Mobile development, Cloud infrastructure, or Business Process Re-engineering, this role serves as the premier entry point into the GEA ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently pursuing a B.Tech or B.E. in Computer Science, IT, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Academic Standing: A minimum aggregate of 60% across 10th, 12th, and Bachelor’s studies.
  • Technical Skills: Command of at least one programming language and a solid grasp of program logic and debugging.
  • Soft Skills: Well-developed communication skills and a “leadership mindset” evidenced by classroom or extracurricular experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Full-Stack Development: Build and maintain applications (Web, Mobile, or Standalone) using modern programming languages.
  • Systems Engineering: Work from functional specifications to develop system modules, enhancements, and data conversions.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Provide frontline support for operating system platforms and internal business solutions.
  • Process Optimization: Participate in business process re-engineering and systems management to improve operational efficiency.
  • Documentation: Maintain high standards for program logic flow-charting, testing protocols, and technical documentation.

Role Summary

The DT Intern at GE Appliances is a “Product-to-Platform” engineer. You aren’t just coding a feature; you are working on the digital thread that connects a smart refrigerator in Kentucky to a data center in Bangalore. Following the acquisition by Haier, GEA has adopted the “Zero Distance” philosophy, meaning engineers work very closely with end-user needs, reducing the gap between a technical “fix” and a customer “win.”
