Frequently Asked Interview Questions (With Answers & Solution Guidelines)
CapEx Evaluation & Financial Feasibility
- Question: “How do you evaluate a proposed Capital Expenditure (CapEx) project to guide management in financial decision-making?”
- Answer & Solution Context: Detail the use of capital budgeting metrics such as Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period. Assess projected cash inflows, salvage value, cost of capital, and sensitivity analysis against key variables (e.g., utilization rates, operating costs) to determine financial viability before presenting recommendations to leadership.
Handling Statutory Audits & Variance Analysis
- Question: “How do you ensure smooth completion of statutory audits while managing monthly OpEx/CapEx variance analysis?”
- Answer & Solution Context: Establish structured audit schedules, prepare detailed audit working papers (schedules for receivables, fixed assets, accruals, and statutory liabilities), and reconcile general ledgers beforehand. For variance analysis, compare actual expenditures against budgeted baselines, categorize variances into volume or price effects, and present actionable insights in the monthly MIS review.
