Job Description

The Saksham Program is essentially the “unicorn” of entry-level engineering opportunities. It is a dual-track career path where you are hired as a Permanent Executive while Tata Motors fully sponsors your B.Tech degree from BITS Pilani (WILP) or a similar Institute of Eminence. This program is designed specifically for 2024 Diploma graduates who have already gained a year or two of “boots-on-the-ground” experience in sales or service and are ready to transition into a professional engineering and management track.

Requirements

  • Education: Diploma in Engineering (Automobile, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, etc.) from the 2024 batch.
  • Academic Record: Minimum 60% throughout (10th, 12th, and Diploma).
  • Experience: Between 12 and 24 months of current work experience in Sales or Customer Service.
  • Employment Status: You must be currently employed to apply.
  • College Status: Your college/university must be AICTE/UGC approved.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Commercial Sales: Analyzing market trends, managing dealer relationships, and providing technical solutions for fleet owners and logistics companies.
  • Commercial Service: Overseeing service quality, managing spare parts inventory, and ensuring “vehicle uptime” for customers who rely on Tata trucks and buses for their livelihood.
  • Manufacturing Exposure: You will get hands-on experience with manufacturing processes and product development cycles.

How to Apply?

  • Click on the “Apply Now” button below

  • Submit all relevant documents (e.g. resume, mark sheet, ID proof)
  • Fill the required details and submit the required documents

Role Summary

Most “Sales” jobs for Diploma holders are dead-end roles. Saksham is the opposite. By sponsoring a BITS Pilani B.Tech, Tata Motors is effectively investing in your transition from a technician/executive to a Chartered Engineer. You are working on the “Commercial” side, which is the most profitable and stable arm of Tata Motors.

Company Culture & Insights

Tata Motors operates with a brand promise of “Connecting Aspirations.” The culture is rooted in the “Tata Code of Conduct” (TCOC), which prioritizes ethics, integrity, and social responsibility. As a Saksham Executive, you are part of a USD 42 billion organization that is currently leading India’s Electric Vehicle (EV) transition in both passenger and commercial segments.

Why We Recommend This Job

  • The BITS Pilani Edge: Getting a B.Tech from BITS Pilani while working is a massive resume booster. It’s a “Work Integrated Learning Program” (WILP) from an Institute of Eminence, valued as much as a regular degree in the corporate world.
  • Financial Freedom: Most engineers have to choose between earning a salary or paying for a degree. Here, Tata Motors pays you a competitive CTC and covers your tuition.
  • Market Leader Pedigree: Tata Motors is India’s leader in Commercial Vehicles and a pioneer in the Electric Vehicle (EV) transition. You will be at the heart of the “Future of Mobility.”
  • Permanent Security: Unlike many trainee programs that are contractual, you join as a permanent employee, providing long-term career stability within the $165 Billion Tata Group.

Career Growth Potential

The trajectory for a Saksham candidate is much steeper than a standard hire:

Strategic Leadership: Potential to move into R&D, Supply Chain, or International Business within the wider Tata Group.

Executive (Years 1–4): Learning the business while completing your B.Tech.

Assistant Manager (Post-B.Tech): Upon successful completion of your degree, you typically transition into a full-fledged management role.

Area Manager / Service Manager: Managing an entire territory or a large-scale service center hub.

Skills You’ll Gain

  • Automotive Systems & R&D: Deep-dive into internal combustion engines (ICE) and EV powertrain technologies.
  • Service Engineering: Mastering diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and large-scale service operations for commercial fleets.
  • Manufacturing Processes: Understanding state-of-the-art production, from sheet metal fabrication to final vehicle assembly.
  • B.Tech Academic Rigor: Advanced engineering mathematics, thermodynamics, and design thinking through the BITS Pilani curriculum.
  • Commercial & Soft Skills
  • Strategic Sales: Moving from “selling a product” to “providing a solution” (Consultative Selling).
  • Customer Lifecycle Management: Learning how to manage relationships with large fleet owners and individual utility vehicle buyers.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Using data to identify market trends and draft variance commentary for regional sales performance.
  • Leadership & Ownership: Managing “Pan India” responsibilities and mentoring future batches as you progress.

Salary & Benefits Info

  • Fixed CTC: ₹3.36 Lakhs per annum.
  • Education Benefit: The B.Tech sponsorship is valued at several lakhs and is arguably the most significant part of the compensation package.
  • Permanent Status: You start as a permanent employee, not a temporary trainee.
  • Medical & BGV: Standard Tata Group health benefits and comprehensive medical check-ups.
