Job Description
The Data Engineer I role at Cencora is a “Full-Cycle Data Specialist” position. While many entry-level data roles are confined to either “plumbing” (moving data) or “modeling” (math), this role requires you to do both. You are responsible for the entire journey of healthcare data—from profiling raw sources and ensuring data quality to building the statistical models that predict health outcomes. Because Cencora is a global leader in pharmaceutical sourcing and distribution, your work directly affects how medicine reaches those in need.
Requirements
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Preferred Certifications: Advanced Data Analytics or SAS Statistical Business Analyst Professional Certification.
- Work Experience:
- 0–2 years of relevant experience, ideally within healthcare data analytics or data engineering.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Strategic Collaboration: Work with business stakeholders to identify problems and opportunities where analytics models can drive solutions.
- Model Development: Conceptualize and develop analytics models using a hypothesis-driven approach to discover insights and address complex challenges.
- Data Translation: Convert raw data into actionable information and insights, including scenario analysis and execution plans.
- Machine Learning Support: Partner with the team to ensure accurate data for ML models, identifying proxy data sources and designing scalable analytics solutions.
- Algorithm Design: Conduct data analysis and develop moderately complex analytic algorithms.
- Semantic Modeling: Collaborate with SMEs to translate requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Data Quality: Execute data profiling and preventative procedures to extract raw data and improve overall data quality.
- Automation: Support the development of automated solutions to enhance enterprise data quality.
- Technical Problem Solving: Code, test, debug, and document complex programs to ensure systems meet evolving user requirements.
