Job Description

As a Design Engineer based at Prestige Technostar in Bangalore, you will drive the mechanical development of subsystems and assemblies that form the backbone of complex industrial systems. This is a “full-lifecycle” role—you aren’t just sketching parts; you are taking a high-value problem from the scoping stage through conceptual development, simulation, manufacturing release, and field testing. You will be expected to balance innovation with practical manufacturing constraints like DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly).

Requirements

  • Education: B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in mechanical design.
  • Core Technical Prerequisites:
  • Proficiency in Solidworks and Catia (both 2D and 3D).
  • Experience with static structures, dynamic assemblies, and pneumatic/hydraulic elements.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and part tolerances.
  • Experience with Engineering Change Notices (ECN), system integration, and sustenance projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Subsystem Development: Design mechanical assemblies that meet fit, form, and functional requirements within a master Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Design for Excellence: Drive designs using DFM, DFA, and Design for Reliability principles to ensure products are easy to build and hard to break.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Troubleshoot moderate to complex mechanical problems, perform RCA, and drive technical solutions under general supervision.
  • Simulation & Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams on simulation requirements, interpreting data to optimize mechanical performance.
  • Documentation & Release: Prepare detailed production drawings, test plans, and project documentation including DFMEA, DVP&R, and Product Specifications.
  • Field Support: Provide informal guidance to newer team members and support field engineers during assembly builds, which may include short-duration travel to customer sites.

Role Summary

At Dover, a Design Engineer is a “Product Architect.” Because Dover serves such diverse markets—from clean energy to imaging—you might find yourself designing high-precision pumps one day and robust fueling systems the next. The role demands a high “Mechanical IQ,” specifically the ability to apply the Stage-Gate process to navigate the ambiguity of new product development.

Company Culture & Insights

Dover operates with a decentralized, entrepreneurial philosophy. This means that while you have the backing of a massive corporation, the individual “operating companies” under the Dover umbrella maintain their own cultures and agility.

Diversity & Representation Statistics: Dover is committed to an inclusive workplace. Based on recent global workforce reporting (approx. 2024-2025):

Why We Recommend This Job

  • Exposure to Diversified Tech: Very few roles allow you to work across five different industrial segments simultaneously. Your “technical vocabulary” will expand rapidly.
  • Reliability Focus: Mastering MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) calculations and DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) at a company like Dover makes you a top-tier engineer in any industry

Career Growth Potential

  • Senior Design Engineer: Taking full ownership of a product subsystem (e.g., the chassis or the drilling arm).
  • Lead Engineer / R&D Manager: Overseeing the technical roadmap for a specific machine category.
  • Specialist – Structural/Hydraulics: Becoming a global Subject Matter Expert (SME) within Epiroc for specific engineering disciplines.
